SKETCHTRAVEL - THE EYE OF EL GRANERO
September 25, 2011

The Eye of El Granero, Graphite and Acrylic on Paper, 8 x 23", 2007.

Over 4 years ago, I was given a sketchbook to draw in by Dice Tsutsumi and Gerald Guerlais. The book, handbound and encased in a gorgeous wooden box, was already filled with beautiful drawings and paintings by well known illustrators and animation artists. The book would be passed from artist to artist, and, once filled, would be auctioned off and published to benefit the international literacy non-profit, Room to Read.

The drawing is loosely based on some elements from The Story of the Eye by Georges Bataille.

I will be in Brussels, Belgium to sign copies of Sketchtravel and the French edition of Rebus on October 13th and to attend the auction event on October 17th at Pierre Bergé & Associés
